Dies Holocaustum can best be described as playing brutal, melodic and fast Old-school Death Metal. Even though the band stardet as a project in 2013, their first release as Dies Holocaustum didn’t come before 2019 in the form of the single “Glories of Hell”, which is a part of the album “A scorched Promised Land”.

“Scorched Promised Land” came out in January 14th 2020, and consists of 11 brutal tracks. And it’s really not hard to hear that the guys are well schooled in what they do. It’s a self-produced and self-released album. I talked to Rob who told me a new remastered version is on its way, so we are looking forward to listen to that.
Because if theres one thing to put my finger on when it comes to this, it’s the mastering of this album. I does need some improvement, and the guys are working on it.
This right here is when real underground meets brutal death metal, at its best. It just punches a hole in what claims to be your soul.
But anyways, we’ll had a listen to the album and tried to look past the mastering. And the first track that, for me, stand out on this album is track number 5, “Funeral Dawn”. One track that is insane, and by far one of them most awesome thing I’ve heard in a long time, is the start of the track number 10. “Leatherface”.
Now, when you listen to this album most of these tracks is hard-hitting. But some tracks do stand out, and the next track that bit me was track number 8, “Terms of the Coven”.
“Scorched Promised Land” was also featured on The Jarl Show 03.12.20, which can be viewed here if you like. And in regards to that i had a little chat with Rob before-hand, and he told me that “Terms of the Coven” was his favourite from that album. And when I listen to it I DO understand why.

Now the track in itself isn’t that special, and doesn’t waiver from the other track, but the use of a chainsaw in the start of this song, is really something… else. It just needs to be listened to.
Seeing as there is a remastered version of this album on its way, I did my best to look past the sound, because there are some room for improvement here. The album is a straight forward trash death metal album, with brutal elements (and a fragging chainsaw).
Looking past the sound I rate this 7,5/10, and wait in excitement for the remastered version.
